Within the circles of our lives

Read at Tuesday evening’s opening circle:

Within the circles of our lives
we dance the circles of the years,
the circles of the seasons
within the circles of the years,
the cycles of the moon
within the circles of the seasons,
the circles of our reasons
within the cycles of the moon.

Again, again we come and go,
changed, changing. Hands
join, unjoin in love and fear,
grief and joy. The circles turn,
each giving into each, into all.

Only music keeps us here,
each by all the others held.
In the hold of hands and eyes
we turn in pairs, that joining
joining each to all again.

And then we turn aside, alone,
out of the sunlight gone

into the darker circles of return.

~ Thursday dances @ Island Park canceled ~

We’re sorry to say that we will not be dancing at Island Park for the rest of the summer. It was a great experiment, and we look forward to seeing how we can create more weekly dance opportunities for us all. Our gratitude to those that came out to the park and danced with the grass at their feet, and the river at their side.

Change of Venue: Island Park this Sunday!

We’ll be dancing at Island Park this Sunday from 10am until noon (instead of our regular WOW Hall venue – they’re redoing the floors). Meet us under the north pavilion  – same place as our Thursday night dances.

Feel free to bring picnic and play things for post dance as well, there’s plenty of space.

Dancing / Sensing

   Dancers!

Come, join us on a journey along of pathways of the senses.

This Thursday Evening July 5th at the Wow Hall (not at Island Park this week) you are invited to explore the many different ways our bodies sense while we dance.

Dancing to a variety of beats and ambient music, take opportunity to both deepen your relationship with the familiar senses that inform and guide you as well as travel more unfamiliar and uncharted paths.

Much of what we feel is familiar and our primary senses are very practiced at offering reliable information to respond to. And…  we can play;  expand our vocabulary.

Even now, as you read this, how are you feeling, literally?  Observe the many ways that sensation travels through the body.

What does it feel like to shift focus from one sense another?

As dancers, as we move, how we feel and what we feel changes.  In a gathering of community, Bring your curiosity, share your explorations and observations through your dance.

  • Doors open 5:30 pm. The Wow Hall, 291 West 8th Ave, Eugene
  • Please arrive early as the doors close at 6:30
  • Cost in $7-12 sliding scale at the door

Blessings,                                                                                                                              Paul
